Fondation Giacometti

It is difficult to recognize, in the face of the woman leaning over her work, a very specific portrait – it could be Annette, or perhaps the woman who helped Giacometti’s mother with the household chores in the family home in Stampa (Canton of Grisons). The space is constructed with quick pencil strokes, behind the character, that make the panels of the wall appear. The complete attention of the artist is focused on the attitude of the woman leaning over her housework.
