Fondation Giacometti - Programme

The École des modernités is the art history research programme of the Institut Giacometti.

Through monthly lectures and a publication series, international art historians and curators are invited to shed new light on the history of modern art, from 1905 to 1960, in order to better understand the decisive period in which Alberto Giacometti lived and worked. A premier reference library on modern art, including books from Alberto Giacometti’s personal library, is accessible to researchers upon reservation.

The lectures: each month at the Institut Giacometti, international specialists present innovative research in art history through an original study of an artist, a movement, or a particular context.
These lectures are filmed and form a reference corpus on the modern period, preserved and freely accessible on the Institut Giacometti website.

The collection: the Institut Giacometti publishes a collection of short essays by emerging researchers in modern art history, co-published with Éditions FAGE. Find out more

The library: the Institut Giacometti offers a premiere reference library comprising works from and about the modern period, accessible to researchers upon reservation. Find out more and book your visit
