JEAN-PAUL SARTRE'S « THE SEARCH FOR THE ABSOLUTE » BY WAJDI MOUAWAD

An exceptional performance at the heart of the “The Walking Man” exhibition in partnership with La Colline - national theater.
In 1948, Jean-Paul Sartre wrote “The Search for the Absolute”, on the occasion of Giacometti's first monographic exhibition in New York, which marked the sculptor's great return to the artistic scene, after more than ten years of absence.
Sitting at the heart of the exhibition "L'Homme qui marche" at the Giacometti Institute, the author, director and actor Wajdi Mouawad reads this very beautiful philosophical and poetic text, in which Sartre applies to the work of Giacometti his existentialist thought. An unprecedented partnership with La Colline - national theater, directed by Wajdi Mouawad.

« MARCHER JUSQU'AU SOIR » BY LYDIE SALVEYRE

Sitting at the heart of the “The Walking Man” exhibition, Lydie Salvayre recounts her experience with Giacometti's sculpture. This text is the result of a night spent in the Giacometti / Picasso exhibition, organized by the Musée national Picasso-Paris and the Fondation Giacometti in 2016. Recalling her childhood as a “well-behaved poor man” and unmasked the link to a dreaded father. The author tries to understand how her relationship to culture and its power to intimidate formed, while praising Giacometti, his radicalism, his claimed failures and his infinite modesty.
