Alberto Giacometti & Salvador Dalí. Through and Beyond Surrealism
Alberto Giacometti and Salvador Dalí met in 1930, when the sculptor joined André Breton’s Surrealist group—shortly after Dalí himself had become a member. Their friendship was brief but intense, marked by exchanges on dreams as a driving force of creation, on the play of perception, and on the representation of movement, space, and time in art. These questions would continue to shape their work after the war.
The exhibition brings together, for the first time, the entirety of both artists’ careers—from their beginnings as post-Impressionist painters to their final figures.
