Singer and oud player
Waed Bouhassoun
Paris , France
At the Institut Giacometti

Since 2006, Waed Bouhassoun has led an international career as a musician, composer, and ethnomusicologist. Born in southern Syria, near Sweida, she grew up in a family passionate about music. Her father gave her her first oud at the age of seven.

Her musical journey draws on a wide range of influences: two childhood years in Yemen, where she discovered local women’s songs, and formal training at the Damascus Conservatory, open to Western influences. From these diverse experiences, she has forged a personal style—faithful to the Syrian musical spirit while embracing artistic encounters. Her tours have taken her across the Arab world, Europe, Canada, South Korea, and Colombia, performing both solo and with ensembles.

On the occasion of the dialogue between Giacometti and MARWAN, the Institut Giacometti invites you to an exceptional concert by Waed Bouhassoun, singer and oud player.

In the heart of the exhibition spaces, surrounded by the artworks, let yourself be carried away by her original compositions that weave a bridge between tradition and contemporary creation.
