An artwork, an insight
These are the questions that MARWAN and Giacometti confronted in their artistic approaches, tirelessly exploring the representation of the face. For both artists, the head alone is a totality—it encapsulates the whole.
This lecture will accompany the exhibition and highlight the major stages of MARWAN’s work, particularly the figurative pieces of the 1960s, when his art stood out for the exceptional richness of its drawing. It will also shed light on the theme of the face and the head in his work, placing it in dialogue with that of Giacometti.
The lecturer, Nagham Hodaifa, will present numerous resources drawn from her own research and from interviews she conducted with the painter MARWAN during the last ten years of his life, focusing on the exhibited works, some of which have never been shown before.
