Between 1954 and 1957, Jean Genet and Alberto Giacometti met regularly for long posing sessions. During this time, the artist created nine portraits of the writer. For his major 1955 portrait, Genet posed for more than forty days — a testament to an uncommon bond of trust and mutual attentiveness. From this prolonged encounter between two solitudes emerged Alberto Giacometti’s Studio: around thirty intense pages, at the crossroads of essay, intimate testimony, and aesthetic meditation.
Within the exhibition spaces, Olivier Martinaud — actor and director trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique — and Nicolas Repac, multi-instrumentalist musician, singer, author, composer, arranger, and producer, bring to life and set to music Jean Genet’s writings devoted to Alberto Giacometti, their meeting, and the admiration the writer would carry for the artist until the end of his days.
