“The Danish co-founder of the CoBrA movement and later leading member of the International Situationist group Asger Jorn (1914-73) met with several of the most influential artists of the pre-war Parisian art world. These meetings but not least the fact that he had to return to his home country before the Second World War broke out, became decisive not only for his own art but had impact on of parts of European art during and after the war.”

Jacob Thage was appointed director of Museum Jorn (Silkeborg) in 2008, the museum founded by Asger Jorn in the 1950’s for his collection of 5000 works by 350 different artists. Among is latest writings, we can mention “Strictly private, The jewelry of Asger Jorn” (in Danish, 2018), the research on the 51 unknown works by Jorn rediscovered in 2016. “The collection in Silkeborg” in: 100 hundred artists in the Museum Jorn (2017). The museum is at the present cataloging the more than 12.000 works and other material mainly on paper, that museum got as part of the archive of the painter Per Kirkeby.
